Despite his great strength he didn’t awaken the spirit state until he was 30, while most people of his caliber awaken it in their teens or early twenties. He was never good at meditation and was never pressed to rage. He wasn’t good at meditation until his 40s.

Ninth Hour Fiction Update

I love Zero Year and wish I can write it every day, but as of now, I do not plan on continuing weekly releases after the current arc ends. ZY will be going on a hiatus for a few reasons:

ZY is an epic of a series. There are 40 story arcs in total. The first story arc is just over 20k words. All of the other story/series ideas I have are 50k to 100k words tops. It’s very easy to get trapped in the word of ZY. I’d like to write my other stories. Some of them have been sitting in Word Docs waiting for over a year now.

Next semester, I have a Creative Writing Workshop. I’ve decided to workshop another series titled SARSKI, instead of ZY. I’ll need time to write SARSKI so I can have something to workshop.

I wasn’t expecting a lot, but reader turnout is still meager. The purpose of releasing ZY was to get feedback on it, so I can grow as a storyteller and writer. As of now, I’m writing to myself. Instead of releasing more, i’ll be trying to get more readers.

Lastly, I’m currently working on a Viz Media Portfolio for Zero Year. I want to focus all my ZY Ashe into creating the best portfolio possible. I’ve always intended for ZY to be a Manga/Comic. I’ll be taking my time with the portfolio. Shooters shoot. Who knows, ZY could be a Viz Original one day.

THE GOOD NEWS

Just because ZY is going on hiatus doesn’t mean Ninth Hour Fiction will be going dry. I have nine other plotted stories/series. I’ll still be posting.

SARSKI is an entirely different vibe than ZY. It’s set in the real world and has a Coming of Age/Slice of Life feel. I’ll be releasing SARSKI content and maybe some drafted chapter parts.

Other series like Gemswords, Ebo’s Council, and RNOTLV have been calling my name. There might be some chapter part releases in the cards for them too!!!

On August 14th I’ll begin introducing the Plot and Characters of SARSKI, Gemswords, Ebo’s Council and RNOTLV. By October all of these series will have begun weekly releases (some sooner than others).

As I said, this post might fall on death ears because I don’t have a consistent reader base yet, but this information should be shared regardless.

Last week Raziya asked Dakarai to be on his best behavior during his questioning with Maaza. Will he pull through for her?

BYR Chapter Seven

Key information/terms

The Economic Prosperity Initiative of 1354: This is the first official law made to protect Merchant nations. It made it legal for merchant lords to run nations. It made it illegal for foreign nations to have power or control over Merchant cartels and or nations. It also made it illegal to wage war against a Merchant nation. In return merchant nations paid a 40% tax to the UPFR

Deadlock War: A deadlock war is very similar to a world war. It’s when the three major nations (Wave, Lightning and Earth) are all engaged in war. Because of their alliances, 20 other nations could easy be thrown into war.

The Merchant UPFR agreement of 1366: This is a revised EPI. Merchant leaders agreed with the UPFR to pay a 26.5% tax in order to be protected and recognized as independent nations.

UTFR (United Totalitarian Front of the Realm): Dakarai is a big deal to the people of the eastern realm. Historically he’s had a few major run ins with the UPFR. So, in the East they call the UPFR the UTFR.

Chapter Seven: Played a Fool by A Fool

Day of Fire later that same day, night had just fell. The meeting most of the realm had been waiting for was about to begin. The Grand War room was packed beyond capacity. The overflow of people were outside of the UPFR building were watching live on a big screen.

Khari knew what his father meant to the realm, but always felt their fixation on him was laughable because he’s really just a weird old man. He shook his head and laughed as he addressed the room. “I’m sure everyone has been waiting for is last on today’s agenda. The questionable partnerships that Merchant nations Canna and Soiven have with the Land of Lightning. Agradahene Nwadike, I ask that you stand before the council,” Khari announced.

“Wake up Zula it’s the moment you’ve been waiting for,” Ojwang said.

“Imani watch how well Lord Dakarai handles himself,” Xolani said.

“Ojwang I bet 100 he finds a way out of this,” Kato said.

Ojwang, Femi, Xolani and the Queen began to laugh at him once they noticed he was serious. “What?” Kato asked confused.

“The old man is the only person crazy enough to bet against him. If you want a bet, how about who he chooses to represent him,” The Queen said.

“50 he picks Asante,” Ojwang said.

“You could bet against the odds sometimes you know.” The Queen laughed.

“There’s nothing wrong with a safe bet,” Ojwang laughed.

“Fine I’ll go with the dark horse, Raziya. Femi what about you?” the Queen said.

“Raziya. Who do you have young Kato?” Femi said.

“300 he represents himself,” Kato said.

“Kato!! That’s not a friendly wager,” Xolani scolded.

“It’s fine Xo. Young Sandstorm likes the risk,” Ojwang laughed.

The crowd roared as Dakarai slowly walked toward the center of the room. Maaza rolled her eyes and kissed her teeth. “It’s clear that everyone loves drama as much as the next. Lord Dakarai, do you know what your being called upon for?”

“I know I’m a Ninety-one-year-old man, but I heard what my son… I mean Head Chairman Nwadike said,” he said.

“Will you have anyone represent you?”

Dakarai began to pace back and forth in the center of the room playing with his beard. “Well my wife did in 57, but she’s only here in spirit. My son did in 78 but he works for the good guys now, so there’s a conflict in interest. I would call on Raziya, but she’s not friendly. I could call on Asante, but everyone likes him. I don’t want to make my enemies his so-

“Agradahene Nwadike, please answer the question,” Maaza said.

“This is not his best behavior,” Raziya said rubbing her temples.

“Raz the people want a show. You know he’s a pleaser,” Asante laughed.

Dakarai finally stopped pacing to ask a question. “Well, is this an official trial?” He asked.

“No, this is a formal questioning,” Maaza answered.

“No charges. That’s good because the third times’ a charm,” he laughed.

“Lord Dakarai, Please do not purposely delay our process,” Jahzara said.

“I guess I’ll represent myself,” He laughed.

“That’s a 100 a piece! No RUEC and no silver. Pay me in gold,” Kato laughed.

“You gon take what I give you,” Ojwang said.

“Good let’s begin. In 1357 you were accused of illegal waging of war. You beat the case. Ten years later, in 1367 you began your Western reach-

“Which was legally approved by the UPFR and remained peaceful until the UPFR waged war against me,” Dakarai said interrupting Maaza.

“Yes, that is true. In 1378, you stood trial for it and beat the case. Then ten years later, you partnered with two merchant nations. Something that hadn’t been done since 1354 when the Economic Prosperity Initiative was approved. You were in attendance at that UPFR summit, right?”

“He’s broken at least two laws. Maaza will be sure to get him to step down,” Gahiji said.

“Don’t get your hopes up. This is a questioning, not a trial. There isn’t even any charges,” Khamari said.

“Yes, I was there. I think it was my 5^th Summit, 4^th as Agradahene,” Dakarai said.

“It’s like he’s been to almost every summit. How old is he?” Zula said shocked.

“As old as time,” Zaire laughed.

“Stop it Nansi. Zula he and your grandmother were great friends,” The Queen said.

“Ten, very interesting number for you. It seems that about every ten years you find a new way to undermine the UPFR.”

“That’s just a coincidence. In the Lightning we have our undermining the UPFR meetings every twelve years,” He laughed.

The room began to shake with laughter as well. “He’s no help at all,” Raziya said putting her head down.

“Poorly placed joke,” Asante said face palming.

“Very funny,” Maaza mocked. Is nothing serious to this fool? Does he take joy in breaking the law?

“Before we continue, May I have a seat? I am an old man you know,” He asked.

“Fine, Asante,” Maaza said.

Asante got up to bring Dakarai a seat. “Any other time Raz would enjoy this but remember she needs Maaza’s cooperation later this week. So, play nice,” he whispered.

“Lady Maaza it would be nice if you could cut to the chase. I have a granddaughter here in the capital. I’ve been here almost four days and I have yet to see her,” Dakarai said as he sat with his feet in the chair.

“Family is important. You have a thing for making partnerships and pushing your own brand of peace that counters the UPFR’s standards. In ’88 you did something that was outlawed 40 years ago. We the council are concerned you are attempting to take control of merchant nations. What do you have to say about that?” Maaza said.

“Hmm I’d say considering the past, this is a good concern for the UPFR to have. I remember in ’26 there was an attempt on Agradahene Micah’s life. They got that poor Lord from Asteraseth. It was the start of the 2^nd deadlock,” he said.

Maaza took a deep breath. She was trying her hardest to tolerate him but he was making it hard. “What does the 20s and 30s have to do with today?”

“The realm has come a long way is all. Back then something so small as this would’ve never have been brought up,” he answered.

“So, you’re saying you see no error in your ways?” Maaza asked.

“No, I don’t. Back then the UPFR passed laws that benefitted the people and not just the head chairs.”

The room shook with cheers of agreement. Khari looked down and shook his head. Father you are so embarrassing. Umechui why haven’t you taken him yet? Maaza was gritting her teeth and clinched her fist. Leader of the idiots. Jahzara placed her hand on Maaza’s trying to calm her down. “What did you say?” Maaza said through her teeth.

“Ahaha,” Jahzara laughed nervously.

“Now he’s putting on a show,” Ojwang laughed.

“And I’m loving it,” the Queen laughed.

“The EPI made it legal for Merchant lords to run nations as long as they paid a tax. Like you said that did stop partnerships between Merchant nations and Major nations because, at the time, UPFR protection was more beneficial, but nothing was made illegal. I also don’t have any control over Canna and Soiven. They remain independent nations with their own governments,” Dakarai said.

“Is it true that you are seeking more partnerships with merchant nations?” Maaza said.

Dakarai counted on his fingers. Canna, Zoiven, Sevarith, Areagord, Alaerith, Sevyn and Adendabard “The lightning already has seven of the eight allowed alignments. Some time ago today we went over alignment approvals, and I didn’t make any new ones.”

“The partnerships in question weren’t made at a Summit. Coming into today, you had two pending alignments. If they hadn’t aligned would you have sought out for more merchant nations?”

“I love hypotheticals as much as the next, but not those about the pass. It cannot be changed. It doesn’t matter about what I would’ve done. Maybe you should ask me about what I will do instead.”

The Crowd shook with laughter again. Jahzara place her hand on Maaza’s again, but Maaza pulled away and took a deep breath.

“Then what do you seek to gain from these ‘partnerships’?”

“To provide a better and more convenient option of protection for Canna and Soiven.”

“That convenient option you provide is another attempted you’ve made to undermine the UPFR. According to the Merchant UPFR agreement of 1366, Merchant nations are to pay a 26.5% tax to keep their legal standing and for the protection provided by UPFR forces.”

“That 26.5% is actually two different taxes. The only mandatory tax in the agreement is 14% to keep legal standing. The 12.5% tax isn’t mandated. If a nation decided to seek protection outside of the UPFR they could.”

“The council has reason to believe that the leaders of Canna and Soiven were coerced to align with the Lightning.”

“All of Canna and Soiven’s neighboring nations are other merchant nations, UPFR Protected and other Lightning aligned nations. I think they aligned with who they trusted more.”

Maaza tried her hardest to remain calm. She had a straight face, but her body was shaking violently with anger. She couldn’t get out another word. This Fool!! He deserves to be locked in the Cursed lands for all of time!! Tormented!! Ripped apart and put back together a billions times over!!

“My goodness he broke her,” Massai laughed.

Jahzara looked other at Khari to get him to finish the questioning. “Nope this is you two. I told y’all he don’t know how to act.”

“There are other layers to this problem that worries the council. The lightning’s military presence put the people of Canna and Soiven at risk,” Jahzara said.

“The UPFR is more of a danger to the people than the Lightning anywhere in the Eastern Realm,” Dakarai laughed.

“What are you trying to say Lord Dakarai,” she asked.

“The UPFR is called the U-T-F-R in the east for a reason.”

“U-T-F-R? What does the T stand for?” Jahzara asked.

“The T stands for To-

Asante quickly sprung out of his seat and spoke over Dakarai. “What Lord Dakarai mean’s to say is that, there are two times more people in this room then they are Lightning Troops in Canna or Soiven. The primary function of the agreement is to protect Merchant Lords without completely occupying the Nations.”

“What else do you two plan on ruining for me this week? Let me know and put it on a list so I can know ahead of time,” Raziya said.

“Paying a 7% tax for no more than 400 troops feels off. The UPFR will closely survey and continue to investigate Canna and Soiven to make sure there is no foul pay,” Maaza said finally gathering herself.

Dakarai turned his attention to Gahiji and locked eye contact. “I hope I won’t be watched as much as Lord Shaka. It’s a shame he couldn’t make it. But I suppose today is his birthday after all. I wouldn’t want to come either. Gahiji-Nox, send my wishes. Council am I dismissed?”

“Yes. The council has no further question for you Agradahene Nwadike,” Khari said.

“Thank you Head Chair Nwadike,” Dakarai said on his way back to his seat.

“The old man plays a dangerous game. Kato statements like that are why you don’t bet against him,” The Queen laughed.

BTC Chapter Six

Talk about a backfire? In this single part chapter, we got to see Dakarai make a fool of Maaza in front of the entire realm. According to Prime Minister Massai, He broke her.

Questions I think you may have

Why is the rock always betting?

The reason is mostly out of story. The Earth Queendom is on the West coast and so is Vegas. That’s pretty much why they bet. Gambling is pretty big in the Earth Queendom.

How did Kato win?

He’s pretty clever. He used the Queen’s words against her and took a risk. She said only Dakarai is bold enough to bet against Dakarai. Kato thought Dakarai representing himself was his worst option, so that’s what he bet with.

RUEC vs physical currency?

Silver, gold and precious gems were the original currency of the realm. They are both still used, but RUEC is easier. Kato wanted to give them a hard time so he asked to be paid in gold.

Zero Year Chapter Six

Last week we watched Maaza and Gahiji got at it for a bit. This week, Nyarai decides to take Krü’s advice and asks Raziya for more responsibility!!

BYR Chapter Six

Key information/terms

Levels of crime: There are five levels of crime 1 to 5 (five being the most serious).
Lightning Council classes of importance: The lightning have 6 classes of importance and urgency. The higher the class the less members of the council are needed to make the decision. Class 1 & 2 calls for the whole council. Class 3 & 4 calls at least half have of the council to be present or the Agradahene has the right to decided alone. Class 5 & 6 the Agradahene has the right to decide alone regardless of how many council members are present.
Lightning Council: the lightning council is made of 14 members counting the Agradahene. Head of the council, Chief Ohunu Coordinator, Commander of the Storm gate, Tribal heads of all seven tribes (Agradahene is the tribal head of their tribe), and the three army generals.
-Rosk: it is a formal yet very petty way to address someone you hate.
Stoziimaa Kruitaa: The literal translation in Shari is Protect spirits. It means may the spirits, or ancestors protect and watch over us. It is a common way to say goodbye in the east.

Chapter Six: Cats of the East

Part One: No Jungles in Sinaga

The next morning Day of earth (8^th) Dakarai was standing in a tree gazing into the Capital city line. “There’s not a single jungle in this whole continent,” Dakarai said.

“In the 7^th there was,” Umechui said.

“Dear friend reveal my enemies so that I…

“Protect the lightning. The realm isn’t yours to save.”

“Taboo, Taboo, Taboo,” Dakarai laughed.

Behind him in the distance, Azrael was standing with Dakarai’s shirt and sandals in hand. “It look like his meeting is more important than ours.”

Dakarai jumped down from the tree and began walking toward Azrael. “Good morning grandson,” Dakarai said.

“Good morning old man. How was your Morning meditation? Insightful, I hope?”

“Meditation feels off here. I’m a home body. Where were you the day before? I was looking for you.”

“I went home. Why what happened?”

“Nothing. I went to see Yaro.”

“How is he doing?”

“The spirits keep him youthful.”

“That’s good to hear. The meeting starts in a few everyone is waiting.”

“Nonsense, it starts when I get there. I want to talk to my grandson for a bit. It’s about time I pass this down to you.”

“Pass down what?”

“Keep your distance.” he said as he backed up.

Dakarai took a deep breath, closed his eyes and began to center. Just as his hand touched, everything around him started to blow away. Azrael was barely keeping his footing. It had been awhile since Azrael felt his grandfather’s Ashe flare. It was amazing to feel the ashe rush against his skin.

Dakarai slowly opened his eyes were glowing yellow. A yellow aura of ashe started to form around him until it form a large sphere. The Aura started to float above his body into the sky. He closed his eyes, interlocked his fingers and closed them tight. The Aura of ashe compressed into a small ball about the size of a pebble.

Azrael was confused. He still felt the immense amount of ashe but it looked as if it disappeared. Streaks of lights started to come from the aura, then finally. It burst into a great flash of light. When the light cleared, Israel couldn’t believe his eyes. He was mesmerized.

*Ancient Ashe Technique Mnyama: Great Tiger* A six meter tall yellow Tiger made of pure ashe appeared behind Dakarai.

“Did you summon Umechui?!?! What did you just do?!?!”

“It’s pure ashe. Can’t be physically attacked and its invulnerable to anything weaker than it. It’s called Mnyame.”

“Teach me!” He said still shocked.

“Later. We have a meeting remember?” He said as he put his sandals on.

“Come on its been awhile since in learned something.”

“Hmm you want to learn something? There’s a book that would be perfect for you.”

“A book? Teach me that instead.”

“Yes. Maaza stole a book and I want you to steal it.”

“When did Maaza steal a book from the Lightning?”

“Oh, the book doesn’t belong to the Lightning.”

“Who does the book belong to?”

“I guess it technically belongs to Yaro, but enough of that we’ll talk after the meeting,” He said putting on his shirt.

Part Two: Fifteen running

Raziya, Asante and Nyarai were waiting in the lodge for Azrael and Dakarai. “Sorry to keep you all waiting. My morning Meditation was a little longer than expected. ” Dakarai said entering the room.

“All is well Dakarai-Küch,” Asante said.

“I know the rest of the council back home are stressed and worried about what is to come from this summit. You all are more even kill than them but, I can sense some worry. Take it from me I’ve been to Summits when we were on the verge of war, after war, After assassinations. I’ve seen it all. This Summit isn’t nearly as tense. You’ve all worked hard to protect the Lightning, the East and the Realm. There’s nothing to worry about. Everyone Take a deep breath with me… Hold it… and exhale. Now Asante what do you have for me?”

“Intel suggest that you will be put on an informal trial for the partnerships you made with Canna and Zoiven in 1388. Gahiji and some UPFR chairs believe you violated the Economic Prosperity initiative Act of 1354. How should we proceed?” Asante said.

“It’s like he sees you as his rival or something,” Raziya laughed.

“I still feel like it was a mistake not to help Lady Asha. Things would be a lot smoother,” Azrael said.

“I wanted too but, Lord Shaka thought she’d win on her own so we left it alone,” Raziya laughed.

“Democracy is weird. You let the people vote, but they don’t know who should lead them in the first place,” Nyarai laughed.

“Well it’s not all of their fault. The people are only as knowledgeable as the information they have access to,” Asante said.

“Yes, and propaganda is the Wave’s strong suit. How else do you think Kali lasted her whole term?” Raziya said.

“Yes, the Wave and Lightning are very different but I have yet to make an opinion on this Canna thing. Nyarai assess the situation for me,” Dakarai asked.

Nyarai grabbed at her tablet and threw her hand at the projector. So that what she was looking at was visible to everyone. “This sounds like Maaza to me. The partnerships were approved by the council 18 to 9 in ’88. Maaza voted against it. Any reasonable suspicion she may have is low and proof of foul play is lower. I think she’s just throwing a fit.”

“That is true. At the last summit she didn’t bring it up. Maybe she thinks she has something,” Raziya said.

“Out of curiosity, did my Father vote for or against?” Azrael asked.

“Against.”

“Why does he humor her?” Azrael said to himself.

“Thank you Nyarai, Someone Call Olajuwon and the Council,” Dakarai said.

Asante used his tablet to call the Lightning council and projected it on the holographic viewer for everyone to see. Olajuwon was in view. “Proxy!! How’s everything?” Dakarai greeted.

“Dakarai-Küch. A bit of a discussion has formed here we’d like your input,” he responded.

“I’m listening,” Dakarai said.

Sadé entered the holographic view. Her arms were crossed and she had yet to lift he eyes from her feet. “Last week, the first third was short 15 troops. I sent a special unit to search for them. They reported that they had reached the heart of Canna already when they encountered them. Eight were killed, three are currently detained and the rest got away,” She said.

Dakarai was no longer smiling. This was not a laughing matter. Asante, Raziya and Nyarai were all shocked and a bit confused. Azrael’s reaction was different. He saw everyone else’s reactions and was embarrassed that he already knew. You’d think they’d report that.

“Why wasn’t this reported?” Raziya said trying to stay calm.

“We had the situation under control. We’ve got great intel out of the three arrested,” Sadé said.

“Four missing troops doesn’t sound like under control to me,” Asante said massaging his temples.

“Rogues and deserters are Ohunu business. I should have been notified the moment you found out troops were missing,” Raziya said.

“We know more about this case than the Ohunu knows about anything. And as commander of the first third, first third troops are my business,” Sadé said.

Nyarai and Azrael locked eyes immediately. Raz was trying her hardest, but she was about to lose composer. “You stupid bi-

“Raz!!! Sadé since you know so much, where were these troops traveling to?” Asante said interrupting her.

“Yes, enlighten us oh great General Furaha-Rosk,” Raziya said rolling her eyes.

“Well they were in Canna and they said they were trying to make it to the UPFR or at least Hiraa,” she said.

The room was silent. They all were shocked and disappointed in the “intel”. She accepted to be true. Raziya couldn’t hold it anymore. She erupted into laughter.

“From Canna, through Ibiresea and Ibirewen to the ROF. They were not going to the UPFR, because they would be arrested upon arrival and neither Hiraa because it’s a UPFR protected nation. Basically, a jurisdiction extension of the UPFR. They were going to the ROF that’s were all rogues travel to,” Asante said massaging his temples.

“You sent troops across borders? Fifteen running and hopefully no more than five hunting. Twenty people counts as an assault unit. If you were there, which I think you were since you’re so proud of this failed mission, it’s extremely illegal. There should be a warrant out for your head. Did you even file them as rogue criminals before you went after them?” Raziya said.

“Should we say something,” Azrael whispered to Nyarai.

“No this is the only fun Raziya has,” she laughed.

“I did not send twenty troops across borders. Your twisting the situation,” Sadé yelled.

“But that’s what it looks like doesn’t it?” Raziya laughed.

“I’m sure we can all agree this situation is bad for the Lightning. It’s important that everyone follows protocol,” Asante said.

“Fine. But, retrieving troops shouldn’t be illegal,” Sadé said.

“Well it is across borders,” Raziya said.

“You’re right it shouldn’t, but it is. Anything outside of the Land of Lightning is for the Ohunu to handle. You were wrong to go after them. Anyone else has anything to bring to the council?” Dakarai said.

“Other than that, all is well here in Umemardhi,” Olajuwon said.

“Stoziimaa Kruitaa,” Dakarai said.

“Stoziimaa Kruitaa,” Olajuwon said.

Asante ended the call and Dakarai looked upset with Azrael. “Explain yourself,” he said.

“I was under the impression that she had already reported it.”

“Ha! That was your first mistake,” Raziya laughed.

“No excuse you’d double check anything else,” Dakarai said.

“Tell the truth you handled this right?” Asante asked.

“It was a group effort between me, shock and three,” he said.

“Accept a compliment Jungle boy, you’re their lead,” Nyarai said shaking his shoulders.

“Thanks, But I’m just doing-

“But nothing. This could’ve been worse,” Raziya said.

“Nyarai’s right. Wraith has saved the lightning again. But this rogue issue is far out of control now,” Dakarai said.

“I hate to say it but, the Ohunu can’t handle this ourselves. This is a realm-wide pandemic,” Asante said.

“We have to play by the rules to fix this. That reminds me, Be on your best behavior old man. We’ll need Maaza’s cooperation for my proposal,” Raziya said.

“I’ll try,” he laughed.

They went on to finish the rest of their meeting. The whole time Nyarai was thinking about her and Azrael’s talk the night before last. Was the timing, right? Or was he just trying to cheer her up? And if it was, what was that based on? Did he know something she didn’t? Or was this a hunch he felt in the ashe?

“Should I say it? No maybe later,” She thought to herself.

“Now or never,” Azrael said holding her hand.

She waited for a silence then stood up. “I think I’ve proved myself time and time again. I think that… No, I know that I’m ready for more responsibility,” she said.

“Nyarai we’ve spoke about this a hundred times you-

“Let her finish,” Dakarai said.

“I know, but it’s been 21 years. They aren’t coming back. I’m not in danger. I can’t grow hiding from them or with you holding my hand,” She said.

“She has a point and her success rate is higher than any of ours,” Asante said.

“Only by 0.0002,” Azrael said under his breath.

“Hush, this isn’t about you,” Asante said.

“Looks to me like Nyarai is asking for a promotion. What does the Coordinator have to say?”

“Nyarai you’re already one of the top ranking agents the next promotion is my job. I can’t promote you,” Raziya said.

“You know what she means,” Dakarai said.

Raziya looked up at Nyarai and saw that she was serious. Why would she make me do this again? This can’t become a constant theme for us. Raziya wanted to keep Nyarai as far away from the Ohunu and her parents as possible. Growing up she pushed her to be a storm gate, but the Ohunu was what she wanted. Raz was never good at telling Nyarai no and she didn’t want to push her way. So, she slowly started allowing her to explore the Ohunu thinking she’d have her parent’s case resolved before Nyarai got too deep. Hoping she could give her peace of mind and closure.

Years later, the case was still open and Nyarai had become a top field agent. Her options of protecting Nyarai we getting low. All she had left was to deny her rank.

Why does she make me this person? I hate being this mother. She took a deep breath and tried to hold back the tears. “Kitten I-

“Don’t do that,” Nyarai said with her head down and fist clenched.

“But-

Nyarai rose her head and revealed eyes full of tears. “Be straight with me Coordinator Aku.”

Raz wiped the tear falling down her cheek and took a deep breath. “Fine agent Nyarai Aku. Your presence is a danger to other agents. You have direct relations with two level 4 rogues that the Ohunu and Council has determine have a strong interest in you. All things considered; You may keep your title as Co-Branch head, but I will not give you the full responsibility of your merit,” Raziya said.

Her heart was struck by Raz’s spear of lightning. She sunk into the seat of her chair swallowed by pain and regret. “I understand Coordinator Aku. Thank you for your audience.” Every time. Why does she hate me? I told Krü this was a bad idea.

Azrael reached for Nyarai’s hand to console her. He nudged Asante so he could say something.

“Since we’re in his presence, As head of Advisory council I request the Agradahene’s opinion,” Asante said.

“I agree with both Agent and Coordinator Aku. The council determined the agent a danger to the Lightning, but that decision was last revisited seven years ago,” Dakarai said.

“Are you suggesting the decision should be revisited?” Asante asked.

“Yes, and I deem the matter of class 4 importance.”

“Very well. At a class 4 importance, at least half of the council must be present or it’s the Agradahene’s decision alone,” Asante said.

“One, Two and three. That’s less than half. I deem Agent Nyarai Aku is no longer a danger to the lightning or Ohunu. I ask that Coordinator Aku grants Agent Aku the full responsibility and workload of her titled position effective immediately. Agents Aku and Nwadike are dismissed.”

Nyarai was surprised. From heartbreak to joy in a matter of moments. Raz could no longer hold her back. She was finally going to be treated like the Co-head of an Ohunu Branch. She would be able to actually do what her job required of her. Azrael had his arms up ready to hug her. He was right. It did work out. They contained themselves until they left the room and celebrated.

Back in the room Raziya didn’t have the same joyous reaction. “That was disrespectful and uncalled for.”

“It was protocol.”

“Bullshit. This was plotted by you Asante!”

“Don’t look at me this was Azrael’s idea. He came to me four months ago about it.”

“If my Kitten gets hurt, I’m murdering the three of you.”

“She’s an adult now. You have to let her go a bit Raz,” Asante laughed.

“What do you know about parenting?” Raziya said.

“I’ve learned a lot from Sanaa,” Asante said.

“7 months to 21 years? Stop talking to me Asante,” Raziya said.

“Okay well Dakarai what do you think? you have well over 50 years of experience.”

“I don’t really know. Both of my boys have told me I’m a better leader than father. But one thing I do know is I trusted Kwame too much and didn’t feel the need to protect him now he watches over us. Raz I think this is the reverse situation. Trust her more. You’ll only push her away if you don’t. She feels doubted not protected.”

“What do you know? Neither of you are Mothers!! When Zahira pits the council against you and drags this out all the way to the Senate I will not help you.”

Behind Chapter Six

In this chapter, We learned about upcoming conflicts between the Lightning and Maaza. Azrael is to steal a book and Dakarai is set to be questioned by the Council. We also touched on the overarching problem of the realm rogues and deserters. Lastly, we got to see Nyarai and Raziya’s bond and the conflict of it. Nyarai will no longer be held back by Raziya and the Council.

Questions I think you may have

How serious is Bomani and Aza’s flee?

Without getting into too much detail, it is very serious. A 21 year old case that’s pretty much gone dead is still a class 4 importance. In chapter one we saw the Ohunu go after them including the Agradahene. It’s very rare for the Coordinator to be in the field and far rarer for the Agradahene to be in the field.

Aren’t Asante, Raziya and Olajuwon equal in power?

Yes, they are equal in power. The only time one is over the over is in their field. So, Asante and Olajuwon answer to Raziya on Ohunu related matters. Raziya and Asante answers to Olajuwon when it’s comes to the safety and security of civilians. Raziya and Olajuwon answer to Asante when it comes to anything council related.

How were Asante and Dakarai able to go over Raziya’s head?

A few legal technicalities. If Raziya made the decision in here office and without Dakarai’s audience, it would’ve stood. Also, their meeting was technically a council meeting. Usually only council members are allowed in council meetings, but Dakarai granted Nyarai and Israel proxy council privileges during the Summit. Also, Nyarai and her employment status is an important part of her parents case.

Because of these rules, Nyarai was allowed to speak freely and ask Raziya for a promotion. Since it was a council meeting and Asante is first advisor. He can pause any decision and ask for the Agradahene for their opinion. Since the decision was made in Dakarai’s presence and Nyarai’s employment status being a matter important to the safety of the Lightning, he was able to call a vote if Nyarai is a danger to the people. Because of the limited amount of councils members, he was able to decide himself.

Who is Zahira?

Zahira is head of the Aku tribe and Nyarai’s paternal Grandmother. They are not close. She personally believes Nyarai is a danger to the people and will die on that hill.

Nonviolent Hate

It’s very dangerous to limit hate like Racism, Misogyny, Homophobia, Transphobia, etc. to only physical and verbal violence.

I think we can all agree that society is fucked up and has been for thousands of years. We were raised, socialized, and conditioned by society, and it has shaped how we think, act, and perceive things to be.

If society as a whole enforces/encourages hate like racism, misogyny, Homophobia, Transphobia, etc. and we were conditioned by society, don’t you think that it’s possible that some of the things we think are normal might actually derive from a place of hate?

Just because you aren’t physically or verbally harassing people doesn’t mean your views and beliefs aren’t harmful. Why? Because you share the same ideas as violent and hateful counterparts. The problem isn’t exclusively in the violence itself, but the hate that encourages and allows violence.

Both views are racist. If R2 had a gun, what would be the difference between them and R1? There would be none. They both feel threatened by black people. The only difference is that R1 has the means to act violently on his fear. Do you see how this is a harmful view with or without a gun?

Misogynist

“Men are superior to women”

M1: If a woman is “out of line” she ought to be slapped

M2: I can never be with a woman who won’t submit to me

Both views are misogynistic. M2 may not harm women, but he definitely believes women should submit to him. His refusal to be with a woman who won’t accept his “dominance” justifies M1’s actions because he also refuses to be with a woman who won’t submit. Do you see how M2’s personal “preference” helps enforce and normalize misogyny?

Homophobes

“Gay people are unnatural”

H1: I’ll harm my son if he’s gay

H2: I don’t think gay people should get married

Both are Homophobic. H2 may claim to be “fine” with gay people but thinks marriage is crossing the line because what? Because deep down, she believes gay people are unnatural. She doesn’t want them harmed but thinks they should only live inside what she think’s is acceptable. Do you see how that is problematic?

Transphobes

“Trans women are men pretending to be women”

T1: I’ll harm a trans woman for not telling me they are trans

T2: I couldn’t date a Trans Woman because I’m not gay

Both T1 and T2 view Trans Women as men, which is dehumanizing. If you saw Trans Women as Women because they are Women, you wouldn’t feel the need to harm them or consider it gay to be attracted to them. If society and media didn’t portray Trans people as a human subspecies, you wouldn’t view them that way. Do you see how society affects and changes what we believe?

Conclusion

In our society, hate has been normalized. The things we think are normal can sometimes be hateful. We can’t be comfortable with the fact that we aren’t violent. We have to check the views along with the actions that come along with them. We have to be introspective and ask ourselves why we hold particular views and find out where they come from.

We shouldn’t hold on to or defend our “Nonviolent” hateful views because they’re byproducts of our hateful society. We should be trying to break free from them.

Black people can struggle with internalized racism. Women can struggle with internalized misogyny. Gay people can struggle with internalized Homophobia. Trans People can struggle with internalized Transphobia.

I do not mention this to justify hate, but to highlight that even effected groups hold these same views because we were also conditioned and socialized in the same hateful world. It proves that society has an effect on our thinking and how we perceive ourselves and others.

We have to detach our thinking from hateful views. We must continue to fight against and question the hate we hold so that we may not teach it to the next generation.

Chapter Four: Mainland Purchase

Part One: The Vote

The Realm’s officials were all in the Grand WAR room a waiting for the last item of the day, the mainland purchase. “Zula wake up it’s Gahiji’s time,” Ojwang said waking the Queen up.

“I’m up. I was just resting my eyes,” she yawned.

The council members were all getting ready for the final topic of the day. The room was quiet as they briefed the proposal again. “Khari are we ready to move on?” Jahzara asked.

“Yes, we may proceed,” he answered.

“We move to our final, piece for today. Since 1386, there has only been one land purchase proposed also known as the Wave mainland purchase. First proposed by former Nsuohene, Lady Obi in ’86. Re proposed in ’90 by current Nsouhene Gahiji. In ’90 this proposal was paused because an unchanged report and ill faith the new Nsouhene. Today we resume,” Jahzara said.

“Lord Gahiji, what is the current nature of your relationships with the Lords, Ladies and Lieges of Rauwia, Haohannon, Freani and Thur?” Maaza asked.

“My relationships with Northern officials has always been well, but I feel in the past four years I’d call myself their friends. Someone they’ve grown to trust and respect,” he answered.

“It’s always good to be friends with our allies. Lord Gahiji, This purchase will double the size and population of the Wave. How will this affect your citizens?” Maaza said rolling her eyes.

“I don’t like to view it as a purchase, but more of a unification people and nations. They only affect Majirians will feel is the bliss of peace and togetherness,” he said.

“He thinks he’s so charming. He’s doing too much,” Asha whispered to Nyambura.

“He’s in love with his wit,” Nyambura laughed.

“I’m curious as to why these nation must be unified? For centuries the mainland nations have been allies with the Wave,” Khari asked.

“These nations have been in an economic crisis for years. The wave has extended all the help we could without putting its own citizens at risk. The UPFR put them into a hard position. They would have to give up their alignments and become UPFR protected for economic support,” Gahiji replied.

“But there are rules and regulations to all of this. The UPFR’s solution would’ve been more short term, but what you’ve proposed something for the third time that is permanent,” Khari said.

“Almost like the Northern Mainland. Countries have given up their will to govern themselves. Lord Gahiji to you intend to control all of your allied nations?” Jahzara asked.

“How long do you think they’ll toy with him,” Jabari asked.

“I’m enjoying this,” Jendayi said.

“I think everyone is,” Sokoro said.

“It’s not like I’m twisting their arms how your twisting my words. They decided that this is the best way to solve their economic strive and remain aligned with the wave,” Gahiji answered.

“Not only have you combine many citizens, But you will now have as many lords and ladies that you have nobles. What will the political landscape look like?” Maaza asked.

“The Mainland Officials will have the same power over their lands that they have already had. Forgive my speaking, but it feels like you are stringing me along. Everything we have discussed thus far is all in the report and notes of the purchase proposal. I’m sure there is one thing you want to ask me that isn’t in the report,” Gahiji said.

“Very well then Lord Gahiji. This purchase was originally proposed by former Nsouhene Kali Obi. Despite what was in the report, her contrasting intentions were written on her forehead. Similarly, to what Lord Dakarai managed to pull off in the 1360s and 1370s with his western reach, Kali wanted to reach south. Although it could be argued that Dakarai’s questionable acts were just, Kali sought out for military power instead of peace. Yesterday, you publicly spoke ill of her and said your job was to ‘bring the wave out of the darkness it once was in’. That is a direct quote. I’m sure everyone else is wondering why would a good man like yourself that claims he will undo Kali’s evil want to follow through with her plans? It doesn’t look very noble or make any sense. Explain your positioning to the council,” Maaza said.

“50 RUEC he makes a fool of himself,” Femi said.

“50 RUEC he finds a way around this,” Ojwang said.

“I’ll do you one better. 100 RUEC. Maaza votes against if she has the deciding vote and for if she doesn’t,” The Queen said.

“How will we be able to prove both?” Femi asked.

“It’s Maaza. She’ll say so. She has a thing for power.”

“That bet is too specific for you to win. I’ll take the action,” Ojwang said.

“The history books read that in the 6th cycle the Wave surrendered land and territory on the mainland to isolate themselves from the carnage. Since then the narrative has greatly changed. The mainland isn’t in an abysmal of war. The mainland is more peaceful than ever, and the wave is isolated from it. This unification will not only help end economic strife, but it will allow the wave to join in on the peaceful prosperity,” Gahiji responded.

“I told you Femi,” Ojwang laughed.

“Don’t get your hopes up yet. Your money could still be mine,” The Queen said.

“Well put Lord Gahiji. The Council will vote to approve the mainland purchase, but first the council will ask the Northern Officials if they are still on board,” Maaza said.

“Lady of Rauwia, Are you in favor of the Mainland purchase?” Jahzara asked.

“Yes, I am.”

“Lord of Haohannon are you in favor?”

“Yes, I am.”

“Lady of Freani are you?”

“Yes, I am.”

“And Liege of Thur are you in favor of the mainland purchase?” Jahzara asked

“Yes, I am.”

“All five nations are in favor of the proposal. 24 members of the council have already voted. Does anyone on the council wish to re-cast their vote?” Maaza asked.

The council members all spoke amongst themselves Trying to see if anything had changed anyone’s vote. For some they weren’t impressed by Gahiji and their feelings about him hadn’t change. For others put their opinions on him aside. They understood that this was larger than him.

One of the council members stood up to speak with Maaza. She moved her mic and they talked for about a minute. After the Council woman sat back down. Maaza announced the decision. “The council will not recast their votes of the 24 members that have voted, it is split 12 for and 12 against.”

“Didn’t think it would be that close,” Dakarai said.

“I thought it would be a land slide in rejections again,” Asante said.

“Remember he’s bad for the realm but good for the North and wave,” Raziya said.

“The three head chairs will now cast their votes. Jahzara are you for or against?” Maaza asked.

“Keep your promise friend,” Gahiji said to himself.

“I am for.”

“Khari, are your for or against?” Maaza asked.

“This fool. He still acts in the favor of the Lightning and does what daddy ask. He’ll be against. I’ll have to count on Maaza,” Gahiji said to himself.

“I am for.”

“I knew it. we finally won Khamari,” Wahjori said.

“Yes, more paperwork,” he responded.

“Get ready to pay me,” The Queen laughed.

“The majority has approved the purchase already so I will also vote for. but if I had the deciding vote, I would’ve denied you,” Maaza said.

“I told you. It’s a power thing. She gets off on it,” The Queen laughed.

“I don’t say this out of spite, but Gahiji as a noble you opposed Lord Shaka, as an Advisor you supported Kali. In the four years of your term you’ve yet to show me if you serve the realm like Shaka or wish to rule it like Kali. I’m not confident in what you will do or who you will be. The only thing this approval has won you is greater concern and questioning on your character,” Maaza said.

Part Two: Order Shall Be Restored

Later that night in the capital city an owl flew high in the sky. The moon was first Quarter. The Streets were crowded with people walking, talking, dancing and playing music. The owl landed on a tree that a man in a hood had been leaning under. He looked at the owl, smirked and started to walk through the crowd.

He walked into a bar. It was surprisingly empty, but he didn’t stop for a drink. He continued to the back down a flight of stairs. The stairs led to an empty room with a lone dangling lightbulb. He turned it off leaving himself in complete darkness. He moved his hands against the wall as if he was solving a puzzle. The wall clicked every time he pressed against it. After a short while it slowly opened and he walked through the tunnel. At the end of the tunnel was another hooded man under a tree with an owl on it.

“Thought you were loss,”

“I know how to follow a bird.”

“Have you considered my offer?”

“I have.”

“It’s too late to refuse me now.”

“This is Fate.”

“I see. Which one will you bring me?”

“I haven’t decided yet.”

“Hmm. It doesn’t matter if the Ashe is how you describe it, either will do. When will you deliver?”

“I have something in the works. Stay ready.”

“Order shall be restored.”

Behind Chapter Five

This chapter set up some things to come in the future. We finally had our first meeting of the summit. Gahiji and Maaza have a battle of words. As Jabari and the Queen, predicted Khari sided with the people and Maaza’s vote didn’t matter. In part two we got to a scene that was oozing with foreshadowing. Two hooded men have a very private conversation that feels important.

Now that the purchase has been approved, the Wave will have territory on the mainland of Kazweza. This will hopefully help the economy of the Rauwia, Hoahannan, Freani and Thur. Gahiji has also now doubled his political and military power.

Chapter Four: What Have You Heard?

Part One: Wave Triad

In the morning on Day of Fire (7^th), The wave’s triad walked through the capital’s marketplace. Sokoro walked and watched his surroundings enjoying the leisure. Jendayi had her arm around Jabari hounding them with questions trying to figure out why they were at the Summit. Jabari answered her questions sincerely without giving anything.

“I promise I’m only here to give father’s presentation. Nothing else,” Jabari said as they picked out mangos.

“You sure?” Jendayi asked.

“Yeah, I’m not convinced. We barely saw you yesterday.” Sokoro said.

Jabari inspected the fruit. Saw the price and felt cheated. “These look like lab mango to me. I thought this was a fresh from the tree stand.”

“Lower your voice. You can’t even tell the difference. 5 per.” He said as he snatched the mango from their hand.

“I’m from the Wave and there is a big difference. I won’t buy Lab mango for tree price,” they said folding their arms.

“Fine three per, but you’re not taking more than five. I gotta turn a profit.” He said as he bagged the fruit.

“Fine give me five.”

Jabari paid the man they continued walking. “Why did you swindle that man? You know there’s no difference,” Sokoro asked as he reached for a mango.

“He was preparing to lie to me. I just beat him at his game,” Jabari answered.

“Just because someone lies doesn’t me you get to lie too. And you still haven’t answered me. Are you here to do something… you know… shady?” Jendayi asked.

“I already told you. I’m not doing anything,” Jabari answered.

Jendayi grabbed Jabari’s face and stared into their eyes. What is she doing? Jabari thought. Is Jay lying to me?Jendayi asked herself. When are we going to stop doing weird things in public? Sokoro asked himself.

“Your eyes say you’re lying to me.”

What the hell does she mean by eyes are lying? “What are you some truth seeking witch?” Jabari laughed.

“Jay. Come on be honest,” Sokoro said.

“Fine. Gahiji asked me to do a tiny favor.”

“A Favor? Is Gahiji making you do his dirty work? That dirty old man,” Jendayi said squeezing her fist.

“You shouldn’t speak ill of our Nsuohene publicly. As the assistant to the council it’s a bad look,” Sokoro said.

“Do you support that vale man?”

“Of course not. I voted for Asha, but-

“But what?”

“I’m just saying, we can all agree he isn’t nearly as bad as Kali.”

“You know, I don’t think Kali was all that bad. If anything, she was trying to do what Lord Dakarai did…. just with a very different method,” Jabari said.

“The different ‘Method’ makes him a hero and her a criminal,” Sokoro said.

“It’s the Nyduavia Syndrome talking,” Jendayi laughed.

“I’m just saying, A lot of my accolades are tied to Kali. So, if she’s evil then so am I,” Jabari said finishing their mango.

“You were being manipulated and your accolades are tied to Shaka and the SETRP not Kali and the… serpent,” Jendayi said.

“Honestly speaking, I’d say both,” Sokoro said.

“Stop spreading your pessimism. You owl months are so bla sometimes,” Jendayi said with her finger in Sokoro’s face.

“It’s called Realism and the Serpent has done some good,” Sokoro said trying to swipe her hand out of his face.

Sokoro swiped right through Jendayi’s hand. *Evaporation Ability* Just as he touched it, it turned into steam. Her hand took form shortly after. “I hate when you do that.”

“Stop using power negatives. Back to you Jay, what favor does Baldhiji have you doing?”

“I can’t tell you but, I’m not here to harm anyone.”

“Nothing Illegal?”

“Illegal doesn’t mean bad.”

“That’s not very convincing,” Sokoro said to himself.

“I’m here to learn a few secrets.”

“You’re spying!?!?” Jendayi yelled.

“Invite the whole market into our conversation why don’t you,” Sokoro said shaking his head.

“Lower your voice. Like five clicks please,” Jabari said.

“I want to help. Can we help?”

“We????? This is supposed to be a vacation type thing,” Sokoro said.

“What? No. No helping.”

“Come on when is the last time the triad did something fun?”

“We went to the Grand Library yesterday. The 6^th cycle lit-

“Reading??? Sokie you can be so boring sometimes. Izara is going to leave you if you act like an old man,” Jendayi said.

“We met in a library,” Sokoro said under his breath.

“Jendayi I love the Charisma, but the serpent only does solo missions.”

Jendayi dramatically threw herself on Sokoro and began to sob. “Fine. I’ll leave you alone. Sokoro will you be my new best friend?”

“Pause. I thought the triad was three best friends. Not two best friends and their friend. Have I been a side friend this whole time?”

“Don’t make this about you Sokie. My heart is full of pain. I can’t bare it,” Jendayi said as she threw herself on the floor.

“Jay. Say something to get her off the floor,”

Jabari crouched down and played into Jendayi’s dramatics. “You can’t help me, but on wind (9^th) we’ll spar like old times. Is that okay?”

“Can we beat up on Sokie?” Jendayi asked as she stopped crying.

“We’ll even cheat,” Jabari laughed helping her up.

“Oh, this is wonderful!! I love you two,” Jendayi said as she hugged them both.

“I love you guys too,” Jabari said.

“So, am I supposed to just ignore the cheating part?”

“Shut up and say you love us back,” Jendayi said.

While they hugged, their APB’s all rung at the same time.

“Baldhiji’s meeting is about to begin,” the APBs buzzed.

“Shit we’re late.”

Part Two: You Have No Friends

The Wave Advisory Council members where all waiting on the triad. Gahiji was sitting at the head of the table with his hands together covering his mouth. To his right was Wahjori tapping his fingers on the table. Nyambura was next to him drinking tea. Asha sat at the end of the table she was trying to work her APB. Khamari sat on Gahiji’s left and he was scrolling through the holographic screen on his APB.

“We should begin without them,” Wahjori grumbled.

“Jabari has got to teach me how to use this thing,” Asha said to herself.

“Calm down Wahjori. They’ve never been to Sinaga. Let them have a little fun,” Nyambura said stirring her tea.

“They’re near,” Gahiji said as he stood up.

Just as he said that, the three of them. Came bursting through the door with Jendayi in front.

“Sorry we’re-

“Sokoro! Jendayi you are late! I expect better from you two. Liege Akpabio, nice of you to join us.”

“The Advisory board shouldn’t have to wait on subordinates,” Wahjori scalded.

“Relax old friend. You didn’t arrive much earlier than them,” Khamari laughed.

“I don’t see why they are here in the first place,” Wahjori said.

“They are the future of the Wave. The brightest we have to offer. If we teach them now they will not fail when it’s their turn,” Gahiji said.

“Jabari do you mind fixing this for me?” Asha whispered handing over her APB.

“No problem,” Jabari answered.

“Now that everyone is here, we can begin. I was speaking with Jahzara yesterday and I have learned some very good news. After several thousands of years, I have reason to believe the Wave will find its way back on the Mainland,” Gahiji announced.

“Has the council already decided,” Wahjori asked.

“Not exactly. Everyone has voted except the head chairs,” Gahiji said.

“Do we have the majority?” Khamari asked.

“It’s split even.”

“I think we’re getting a little ahead of ourselves then,” Asha said.

“We could be denied just like ’86 and ’90,” Nyambura said.

“Jahzara sides with us,” Gahiji said.

“Does Maaza know that?” Asha laughed.

“What of Lord Khari and Lady Maaza?” Sokoro asked.

“She said Khari has already decided, but he hasn’t told anyone his vote,” Gahiji said.

“Secrets just like his father. I’m not surprised,” Nyambura laughed.

“What about Lady Maaza?” Jendayi asked.

“Maaza will most likely want to hear what I have to say before she votes,” Gahiji said.

“I feel like we’re forgetting that the council has the right to recast their vote,” Khamari said.

“If I may speak, the written proposal is perfect. Their decision may come down to how they feel about you Lord Gahiji. In 86 they hated Kali, in 90 they didn’t trust you. What have you done to earn Maaza and Khari’s trust? Separating yourself from Kali may not have been enough. There are whispers that aren’t in your favor,” Jabari said.

“Nonsense!!! Gahiji you can’t trust this criminal. All she does is lie!! They call her the serpent for a reason. Why do we continue to allow her to act as a government official?!?!” Wahjori yelled.

“Stop mis gendering them!!!” Jendayi and Sokoro yelled.

“Everyone control your tempers. Wahjori you will respect everyone at this table or you will not speak. My liege, what are the whispers?” Gahiji asked.

“Prime Minister Gila doesn’t trust anyone other than himself. Zula third of her name is wondering why her best friend hasn’t left the Wave since Kali made you her 1^st advisor. The Ohunu knows everyone’s secrets and you’ve been trying to make allies in the East. The Edawyn cartels don’t want to trade with you if the Mainland purchase goes through. You underestimate the youth of the Adeleke. Young Kato is said to be a better leader of men than his grandfather, Xolani a better advisor than Femi and they say lava boils in the Adeleke Princess. In short you don’t have many friends Lord Gahiji. It’s year four and you haven’t proved trustworthy to anyone. Behind Chapter Four

This chapter we open with the Triad walking through the markets. Jendayi is trying to figure out why Gahiji Decided to bring Jabari so last minute. Jabari assures they aren’t there to harm anyone. At the briefing, we see Wahjori’s distrust for Jabari. They inform the board on the intel they’ve gather about the Realm’s feelings with Gahiji. Lastly, Gahiji promises a promotion to Jendayi and Sokoro that feels very backhanded.

There are things Women and Queer people experience that you won’t understand until you shut up and listen to them.

You have to understand that they have it bad not only because they are black, but also because they are Women and or Queer. You have to understand that you can contribute to their plight while you may not intend to. You have to understand that because you don’t have malicious intent doesn’t mean you are excused from accountability.

Instead of defending yourself and proving how “supportive” you’ve been in the past, take it on the chin and learn something. Understand where they’re coming from. Understand what exactly you did and why it was harmful. Remember you aren’t being attacked per se. They are attacking the harmful views and beliefs you have. You have to be able to let go of those views in order to be supportive.

To my Black Women and Queer people, Because you are an intersecting group does not excused you from anything. You can still have harmful Misogynistic and or Homophobic views and behaviors. You can check that shit at to door too!!

INTERSECTIONALITY

Read it three times if you have to! Watching already marginalized people try to marginalize other people is tiring.

1. All three groups are marginalized. Some people belong in two or all three goups. They cannot “choose” to put women’s and or LGBT issues aside. They can’t compartmentalize their identities. They are Black Queer People, Black Women and Black Queer Women all at the same time all the time.

2. It’s evident that Black lives don’t matter to people. We say BLACK LIVES MATTER not to say we matter more but to say we also matter. It is the same exact thing when people say BLACK WOMEN MATTER or BLACK LGBT LIVES MATTER

3. The BLM movement has been centered around cishet men. When people say BLACK WOMEN MATTER or BLACK LGBT LIVES MATTER they are not being divisive and trying to derail the movement. They are including and emphazing that they also matter.

4. The phrases BLACK WOMEN MATTER and BLACK LGBT LIVES MATTER should not upset you. If they do then you are NOT Pro-Black and you are on some highkey all lives matter bullshit. FIX THAT QUICKLY
