During this time as we fight to abolish racist institutions, end interpersonal racism and free the black community, there’s some confusion going on. People aren’t understanding who this fight is truly for. People aren’t seeing outside of themselves. Hopefully this post can help clear the fog.
We are not only fighting for Black Cishet Men
We are fighting for everyone that is black. That includes Women, LGBT people, The Disabled, The Mentally Ill, The Sick, The poor. EVERY LAST ONE OF US OKAY?
It’s so easy to only fight for the black people like you, or the black people in your life. It’s sooo easy to ignore the black people you don’t know. It’s soooo fucking lazy to ignore the black people who’s lifestyles your beliefs “Won’t allow you to agree with”. YOU ARE THE WEAKEST LINK. It don’t get no weaker than that shit. Gender identity and sexuality is where you draw the line in your fight against oppression? Please grow the fuck up.
I do not understand how already oppressed and marginalized people turn around and marginalize people they share an oppressor with. Like that is some house niggas better than field niggas shit.
The emancipation proclamation was January 1st, 1863 but all slaves were not free until June 19th, 1865. We do not celebrate January first, We celebrate Juneteenth. Why is that? Because all of us were not free. Why would we celebrate a day when all of us weren’t free?
If you fight only for your freedom, all of us will not be freed. You January 1st ass niggas piss me off. At this point, I’m only rocking with Juneteenth ass niggas. If you not fighting for all of us then you need to stop. How we gon be free while Patriarchy, Capitalism and Homophobia still exist? We tearing all this shit down bruh. How would you feel if white people told you racism wasn’t real? How would you feel if they said climate change was more important than racism? How would you feel if they tried to tell you what is and what isn’t racist?
This is what you’re doing to Women and LGBT people. Stop that shit. Holding people accountable is not division. Ignoring entire experiences because they don’t match yours is divisive as fuck.
You’re probably saying, I’m not misogynistic or homophobic. If you say this, I ask what is your definition of Misogyny and Homophobia? People think Misogyny and homophobia is only Malicious Physical & Verbal Violence. It is dangerous to simplify Misogyny and Homophobia to just that.
Misogyny and Homophobia are direct byproducts of patriarchy. Because we live in a Patriarchal Society, the way we were conditioned, socialized and raised was marinated in it. Just because you don’t abuse, assault or antagonize Women and Queer people doesn’t mean you don’t hold misogynistic and homophobic views and behaviors. There are things Women and Queer people experience that you won’t understand until you shut up and listen to them.
You have to understand that they have it bad not only because they are black, but also because they are Women and or Queer. You have to understand that you can contribute to their plight while you may not intend to. You have to understand that because you don’t have malicious intent doesn’t mean you are excused from accountability.
Instead of defending yourself and proving how “supportive” you’ve been in the past, take it on the chin and learn something. Understand where they’re coming from. Understand what exactly you did and why it was harmful. Remember you aren’t being attacked per se. They are attacking the harmful views and beliefs you have. You have to be able to let go of those views in order to be supportive.
To my Black Women and Queer people, Because you are an intersecting group does not excused you from anything. You can still have harmful Misogynistic and or Homophobic views and behaviors. You can check that shit at to door too!!
